FOGGS Update: July 2025
FOGGS Open Consultation Mondays, Project Democrat transnational Agora, Project CASA Final Report, From our Partners, Katoikos podcasts and articles
Next FOGGS Open Consultation Monday on 15 September 2025

Join us for an in-depth discussion of the current role and future potential of "middle powers" in shaping global governance in more cooperative ways than hegemonic pressure and big power competition seem to be doing. Which are these "middle powers" from North and South and what are the chances that they have the capabilities and the political will to play such a central role? A more detailed concept note will be made available closer to the consultation date.

Resilience, Readiness, and Response | Project CASA Final Report
The final report of Project CASA (Climate and Security Action through Civil-Military Cooperation in Climate-Related Emergencies), titled "Resilience, Readiness, and Response", has been released. The publication presents the first cross-national dataset on military involvement in climate-related disasters and offers critical insights into the evolving role of armed forces in climate emergency response.
Produced through a two-year collaboration among five organizations, including FOGGS, the report analyzes trends across 19 countries and 25 international organizations, offering country profiles, a typology of civil protection activities, and policy recommendations. It highlights the growing demands placed on militaries due to the increasing frequency and intensity of climate disasters and underscores the need for enhanced data collection, strategic foresight, and stronger civil-military coordination.
