New Book: Children's Rights-Based Indicators

Announcement shared by Niloufar Pourzand

We are pleased to announce that the GlobalChild Program's 2nd book, entitled "Children's Rights-Based Indicators: Strengthening States' Accountability to Children," edited by Drs. Ziba Vaghri (University of New Brunswick, Canada), Roberta Ruggerio (University of Geneva), and Gerison Lansdown (University College Cork, Ireland) and co-authored by Adem Arkadas-Thibert (independent child rights expert, France) and Christian Whalen (UNB, Canada), has just been published by Springer. The book is open access, and you can visit its webpage and access its content by clicking the cover page below

We are grateful to the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) for funding this book, which provides an important contribution towards accountability to children. We are also thankful to the hundreds of experts, including the 7 former chairs of the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child (Hon. Jaap Doek, Hon. Jean Zermatten, Dr. Yanghee Lee, Prof. Kirsten Sandberg, Justice Renate Winter, Prof. Benyam Dawit Mezmur and Luis Pedernera) who served within our larger GlobalChild team in some capacity and contributed to the development of the material presented in this book. Last but not least, immense gratitude goes to over 2000 children who contributed to the development of the indicators by participating in the international Global Child Rights Dialogue study.

We hope that the book, which is freely available to you, serves some good purposes in the critical work that you are all doing!

Happy reading from all of us at the GlobalChild Program of Research.
