I shudder at the power, potential and risks of mega-rich folks randomly selecting people and projects to give huge sums of money - and thus wielding great influence on policies and priorities seemingly without any accountability.
Howard Buffet gives out billions of dollars — but says his foundation has no measurable goals to achieve other than what strikes his fancy..., where he happens to visit and whom he happens to meet, and who impresses him.
Thus, how much good his foundation does - is all hit or miss laissez-faire.
Yes, it is his money — and he can spend it the way he likes it. But I wish at least one big chunk of his largesse would be devoted to some worthy and measurable cause. Pick & choose any one of the 17 SDGs and any of their 248 indicators.

I have always wondered, why UNICEF is not a top recipient, although Bill Gates at least supports our projects, like vaccinations etc. As a friend of Buffet, he probably can and does make suggestions.
