Fawzia was Programme Assistant with UNICEF Badakhshan, non-Taliban areas, in the late 1990s, when Taliban was first in power. She was our only female staff member in those areas - and we had one - Haifza Rasouli - in Taliban held areas (in Kabul) and then we had some Afghan female colleagues who worked in Pakistan where our “main” Office was those years - till around 2004. Later she became a MP from Badakhshan and has also written books about her life and efforts. After the return of Taliban in August 2022 - she left the country and is continuing with her advocacy from abroad.
