Save the Children announced on 5 August that it would cut hundreds of jobs in response to a projected budget gap. The organisation is one of several aid groups to undergo staff cuts and restructurings this year in response to rising costs and reduced revenue. The International Rescue Committee announced job cuts on the same day.

The anonymous survey about Save the Children's restructuring, which began circulating earlier this month, received responses from over 400 people. However, this represents a small fraction of the organization's 25,000 staff worldwide. The survey was distributed through non-work platforms, suggesting that many staff members may have been unaware of it.

The survey asked respondents to agree or disagree with 16 positive statements about the organization's leadership and the restructuring. The majority of respondents disagreed or strongly disagreed with all of the statements. Over 85% disagreed with the claim that the restructuring process has been fair and transparent, and over 78% disagreed with the assertion that senior leaders are effectively guiding the organization through this period of change.
