Summary
On June 23, 2025, Israel launched an airstrike on Tehran’s Evin Prison during working hours, targeting the front gate and nearby judicial complex.

The attack damaged critical areas including the infirmary, library, women’s ward, and visitation center. Siamak Namazi—a former detainee—reflects on the suffering of innocent prisoners, families, staff, and guards caught in the strike, stressing that "bombs did not distinguish between evil magistrates and political prisoners." He warns that this assault may embolden Iran’s regime to unleash further internal repression following the fragile cease‑fire.

Quotes
“Israel didn’t merely blow open a prison gate. Its bombs severely damaged the adjoining Shahid Moghaddas judicial complex.”
“The bombs did not distinguish between evil magistrates and political prisoners, or the 18‑ to 20‑year‑old conscripts tasked with escorting them.”
“We can only hope the recent fragile ceasefire between Iran, Israel and the United States holds—and that this madness finally ends.”

Note: According to Iran's Judiciary at least 71 people were killed in Israel's attack on the notorious Evin Prison

  1. This is one (no doubt of many) aspects of the unjustified and terrible attack by the US on Iran on June 23, about which we in the US hear nothing. The loss of life is inexcusable and very sad. Thank you for sharing, Siamak.

  3. My thoughts immediately turned to you, dear Baquer, when I heard about the barbaric attack on the Evin Prison.
As Siamak says, it put the prisoners of conscience in double jeopardy - domestic oppression compounded by foreign aggression. May the people of Iran succeed in overcoming this dual catastrophe, regain their freedom, reclaim their glorious heritage, and build a bright new future.
    In solidarity
